Transplant Day!
What a day!! I don't think it could have been more emotional! Our little trooper Audrey arrived at the hospital at 10:30 am with having nothing to eat or drink. Her surgery was scheduled for 12:30 but was delayed till 2:15. I was able to go back in the OR with Audrey and be with her till she went to sleep...she was so amazing! It was just so much to take in, my 4 yr old getting ready to have surgery to help her sister and my 8 month old upstairs in her hospital room waiting for the marrow...I was a mess. Drew and I sat with Ava and waited anxiously for Audrey to be done. In less than 2 hours, the surgeon came in and told us she was awake and did great!! I ran downstairs and sat with her in recovery, then Drew would sit with her. We just kept passing each other on the elevators, one with Ava, one with Audrey. Then...the big moment!!! Around 6:00 pm they brought Audrey's cells into Ava's room! I left Audrey in recovery with the nurses, ran upstairs and was just in time to take pictures with Ava's new marrow:) The nurse hooked her up, it was unreal...Drew and I were crying and Ava was just laying in her crib having a bottle. The transplant took about 2 hours and was pretty uneventful. During this time Audrey was discharged and I took her home, we had a special mommy & Audrey night...my sweet Audrey Mae, a hero for sure!! Happy new birthday to Ava!!

Audrey is so amazing, Julie. She is really a testament to the kind of wonderful home you've raised her in. I know Ava will be just like her.
