We had Ava's clinic visit this morning. Her platelets were 180,000! Unbelievable! Ava's case and her progress is all overseen by Dr. Chen, he is the head of everything. We never see him, but we see everyone who works along with him and they inform us of his thoughts and decisions. Today, our nurse explained that Dr. Chen did want to see Ava have 100% engraftment. Im confused about wether he means 100% engraftment in her marrow, or lymphocytes, or both??? I probably explained it all wrong in my previous post, I misunderstood at my last visit. I thought that the lymphocyte thing was ok to have a small percentage of Ava's cells, but apparently Dr. Chen would be happier with a much higher number of donor cells. He will keep a close eye on this and would like to see an increase or have them be stable, but no decrease. They drew blood for this test again today in clinic, we will know on Friday if her lymphocyte #'s have changed. Fingers crossed for an increase of donor cells!!! Her marrow wont be looked at again until 60 days post transplant.
This is all very nerve wracking. She is thriving in every other way, we can only hope that all this keeps moving in the right direction. One plus to today's visit was they decided to cut down on her TPN because she is starting to eat. She will now get it over a 10 hour period instead of 14 hours. Less TPN will hopefully make her feel less satisfied, and more interested in food! She actually had a good eating day today :) but not a good napping day :(
