For anyone who wants to check in on Ava, we thought this would be an easy way to tell her story...

Ava and I had a good night sleep last night, probably because we were so busy cuddling:) Around 2:00 a.m. I brought her to bed with me and we fell asleep hugging. My arms were tingling but I didn't dare move. We both woke at 6 a.m. when our nurse Colleen came in. Ava opened her eyes and had the biggest smile, its like she was telling Colleen... "hi, this is my mommy and we cuddled all night!" I have to say it was a great start to the day. Drew came in around 11:30 and relieved me. I think she had a good day, food is becoming less and less appetizing so they are talking about IV nutrition now...this is upsetting but is to be expected. Also, the doctors and nurses have been concerned about her central line (the IV port that was surgically placed in her chest) the past 2 days, its very bruised and they wanted to make sure there was no bleeding under the skin or a problem with the line. Drew called me this evening to tell me they were doing a chest X-ray to check it out. I waited with a knot in my stomach until he called to tell me it all looked good and the line was still in place...phew! Its hard being away from her when she has to go through things, but Im also needed at home. Thank goodness she has daddy...Drew has been so amazing.
