I will never complain again about the apartment!! I promise!! I jinxed everything last night! Seriously, what happened this morning is way beyond what I can handle...
We woke up fine, all was good. I stopped her overnight nutrition, flushed her and clamped her. I then walked into the kitchen to get my coffe, came back in like 15 seconds and Ava had her central line out!! Just to reiterate, her central line is the double port catheter that was surgically placed in her chest...all of her medicines, chemo, blood draws, and TPN gets given and drawn from here. At first I didn't know what had happened, there was some blood seeping through her shirt. I picked her up and blood just started soaking her up, all over, dripping all over the floor, my shirt was completely soaked through...I don't even know what happened next. I think I called 911 right away. I started screaming to the dispatcher, "my baby is bleeding everywhere!" She asked me my address and I had no idea, no idea of our address here in Canton. I had never even thought about that! I opened the front door and screamed to some lady walking by, "whats my address??!!" as Im standing there on my stoop in my bloody pajamas holding a bleeding baby. All I kept saying to the dispatcher was that we had a pink door until the nice lady outside told me the street and number...thank you nice lady.
As soon as we got in the ambulance, her bleeding stopped and she was full of smiles and coos. I called Drew to tell him what was going on and Casey answered, this was our conversation...
Casey: "hello"
me: (screaming) "Casey, I need dad now! Its an emergency!!"
Casey: "um, dads in the shower"
me: "this is an emergency, Casey!! GET HIM!"
Casey: "ok, (I hear him knocking on the door) Dad, JuJu is on the phone (thats what they call me) she says its important"
Drew: "tell her I will call her back when I get out"
me: "Casey!! This is a (I may have cursed here) emergency!!"
Casey: "JuJu says its an emergency"
Drew: "ok, wait, I have to rinse off"
me: "put him on the phone!!"
Drew: "what?"
Needless to say, Drew got himself and the kids ready in 10 minutes, dropped them off at their designations and came to the hospital. Thank you Jill and Alayna for being available every time I changed my mind :)
We spent the entire day in the hospital waiting to find out if she would be able to have surgery to put another line in, and if not we knew we would be admitted until they would have the time. If she was eating some they probably would have sent us home until Monday, but since she eats nothing and depends on her TPN at night, she will need another line ASAP. She was finally admitted around 5:00pm and I decided to stay with her tonight, Drew can have tomorrow (hurricane) night. We will see how the night goes. We got word that they plan on doing the procedure around 9am.
I did all that complaining about our little, depressing apartment, and now look where I am...
never again.
(by the way, her platelets are 136,000 today...perfect for her surgery tomorrow!)
