Sometime next week, Ava will be re-admitted for 3 days to start a regimen of a drug called Campath. This is like a chemo but it only targets the T-cells and B-cells. It should not interfere with her marrow, and other cells. The hope is to stop her own T-cells from being made, and then give more of Audrey's. The doctor doesn't think she will experience the same side effects she did from the last chemo, we are really hoping it doesn't interfere with her eating again. This drug, Campath has its own side effects...I pray she does ok. After the Campath, there is a 3 week waiting period before the actual transfusion is done. And, after the transfusion, there is a waiting period where she will need to be at the hospital 3 times a week and will still need to live close by...we have been set back for some time. I don't want to type the amount of time on here because then it just seems so real, we were hoping to be home by now :(
I am feeling defeated.
Drew and I have come up with an idea though that may make our time away from home a bit more enjoyable. As much as we appreciate the apartment that has been provided for us, its just not gonna be doable for our time coming up. We really love the location, and its coziness, but we need more space!! The one bedroom is just not cutting it! We are starting to look for furnished rentals/corporate housing/short term stuff...maybe something bigger, brighter, and more inviting. I would love to have a place where our other kids can come and stay if needed, a place for Ava to crawl all around, a place to open my blinds and see outside! We will treat ourselves to something more cheery, we deserve it, and it will be good for our psyche. Does anyone know anyone that knows anyone that has a row home or apartment in the city somewhere?? a rental? a sublet? furnished? We are clean, responsible, and nice...and we have a really cute baby :)
