Its done!!

We did it! The DLI is done! Yay! I have anticipated this day for the past month, worried about it being delayed, and stressed over keeping both girls healthy for today. Everything went as planned and both girls were amazing.  The day started at 9:00am, Audrey was checked in, looked over, then given valium which made her loopy and carefree. There were 2 child life specialists there that made her all nice and comfy and catered to her every need while lots of nurses worked on getting the amount of blood they needed. It really was quite a production. She was a superstar once again.

Now that we had the blood, we needed to wait till it went through whatever it needed to go through before coming to Ava.  While we waited, Nana and Goompa came and we all hung out with Audrey until she got the ok to leave. Nana and Goompa took her home so Drew and I could be with Ava for her part. As I sat there waiting for Ava to receive her sister's blood, I was talking to one of the nurses about how crazy my day was. How many people spent the day in the hospital with both their children, praying that one can cure the other?? Sometimes it just hits me...talk about surreal.
Ava was finally set up and ready to receive Audrey's blood, at first we thought she was only getting the lymphocytes but it turned out the doctors wanted her to get all of it. Every last drop that Audrey gave went into Ava today. The infusion only lasted about 40 minutes or so, but they kept her for 2 hours afterwards to check her vitals and watch her. The nurses (as always) were amazing, and Ava did fabulous. Now we just wait, watch, pray, hope, cross our fingers, and stay positive for this DLI to do what it needs to do!! I have a really good feeling about this!
